Talks

These are slides I used for the presentations that I would consider interesting. Some were given at conferences, others at more mundane venues.

• Solid-state cryogenic scintillators for particle detectors. Presented on 2010-10-22 at the 2010 Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• Wavefunction dynamics and application to the Bose glass phase. A talk on 2011-04-07 for my Bachelor's thesis. Also shown at the time were some videos of simulations.
• Problems related to finding universal Gröbner bases. A presentation given on 2011-04-09 for a computational commutative algebra course taught by Greg Smith.
• Physically meaningful or mathematically pedantic? A presentation given to grad students at UBC on 2013-11-29.
• Large parameter limits of conformal blocks. Presented on 2014-05-14 at Theory Canada 9 in Waterloo, Ontario with proceedings.
• Simplifying plasma balls and black holes with nonlinear diffusion (2014-07-14) and Black hole evaporation from a random walk (2013-05-15). Two talks related to my Master's thesis.
• Kaons et al: CP violation in the quark sector (2014-10-27) and Closing all loopholes in quantum devices (2015-02-25). Two presentations given to grad students at Stony Brook.
• Bootstrapping the long-range Ising model. Presented on 2018-02-03 at Nonperturbative and numerical approaches to quantum gravity, string theory and holography in Bangalore, India. There is also an updated version which I gave in three places later that year.
• Conformal invariance: What is it good for? as part of the GRAD TALKS series at Stony Brook on 2018-03-22.
• Better tools for crossing equations. A project proposal for the 2018-07-16 coding session of the Bootstrap 2018 workshop at Caltech.
• New tools for conformal manifolds in one and two dimensions. An interview talk given on 2018-11-23 for a postdoctoral position at ETH Zurich which I did not get.
• A very brief history of quantum field theory. A non-technical talk from 2019-05-21 that Stony Brook asks winners of the dean's award to give.
• Duality, non-renormalization, superblocks and lines of CFTs without supersymmetry. A submission to the gong show of TASI on 2019-06-19.
• Bootstrapping some continuous families of conformal field theories. The talk from my PhD defence on 2019-08-09.
• Protected operator algebras and holography. A seminar given twice virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Hidden structures of holographic correlators. A talk given on 2021-03-25 for an internal workshop called Oxford Meets the Hologram. See also an updated version.
• Unitarity vs positivity. Discussed on 2021-05-27 at Bootstat: Conformal bootstrap and statistical models in Orsay, France.
• Lifting the degeneracy between holographic CFTs. An Oxford string theory seminar given on 2022-02-21.
• How far can the Coulomb gas go? A tedious barrage of integrals which I unwisely tried to turn into a talk on 2022-10-10 at DESY, Hamburg.
• Coupled minimal models revisited. A beamer talk given at FPUK and the City in London on 2022-12-02. It was based on a blackboard talk given at Bootstrapping Nature in Florence on 2022-11-02.
• Localization improved gluon amplitudes in AdS. A Sikkim University and University of Crete seminar given virtually on 2023-06-09 and 2023-10-17 respectively.
• Fields all the way down. A big picture talk given to students at the University of the City of Sao Paulo (UNICID) on 2024-04-19.
